Is It As Good As A Department Store Brand?

Drug store cosmetics get a bad rap sometimes,but sometimes you can find a product that performs as well or better than its department store twin,and Revlon Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator is just that product. Revlon’s advertisement is that this product will boost your natural skin radiance for a fresh,luminous glow using a sheer formulation of light reflecting micronized crystals in a lightweight,oil-free formula with an SPF 18. It reminds me more of a shimmery lotion,but does not have the tacky feeling that benefits high beam can leave behind. It come in the pink,a Bare Light and Gold Light,and light bronze.
I am all for SPF in cosmetic products,so this gets high marks right off the bat. It comes it a strange tube packaging,with a brush that I’m not too fond of,and I have to be honest,but I yanked out the brush as I was applying the product which is not really the consistency of a foundation,but more like a lotion with my fingers anyway. The tube has a rotating brush head that has an on and off position that is shown with an arrow that allows you to squeeze the right amount onto the brush dispenser,but it is hard to control how much comes out when you use the brush and it does not do a very good job of blending. My advice is pull the brush out with some pliers,and use your fingers,a makeup sponge,or a small foundation brush.

Younger Skin Tip:The synthetic brush is washable,but make sure you turn the dispenser to the off position before washing with soap and water.

Using of Revlon Age Defying Spa Face Highlighter

I have used the product in three ways:alone,mixed in with my regular foundation or tinted moisturizer,and over the top of my favorite foundation. Mixing a few drops with my day foundation gave my skin a natural glow that lasted all day without being greasy or overly shiny. I prefer the light golden color formulation to mix with my foundation,but I prefer the light pink to highlight the eye and brow areas. The soft pink is very helpful in deflecting light away from fine lines around the eyes,and does not settle in the lines to accentuate them.

I have used the illuminator all over for my face in the evening and in the day and evening around my eyes. I start at the center of my face,and blend out on my forehead,cheeks,and chin. The bronze is sheer,and not too dark,but a little goes a long way when you put on any bronzer. I personally could not use the pink color as a blush replacement,but if you have some color to your cheeks to begin with it might enhance the color beautifully.

The overall color is sheer and blends quite easily without building up in your pore,or caking on the skin. If you are looking for a beautiful “angel” glow to your skin then this is comparable to Benefits High Beam,and the shimmer is not overpowering with a light lotion texture that blends evenly without streaking,leaving behind only a natural-looking glow.

Conclusion

I highly recommend this product if you are a Benefit High Beam fan,as it is almost a twin in relation to product performance,and at half the price your not only going to be glowing,it will be difficult to wipe the smile off your face too.
