I went into Walgreen’s with my 12 yr old daughter a couple of weeks ago to pick up a disposable camera that my daughter needed for school,and of course I can’t stop there and not check out the makeup that lines the walls,and fills the displays. I was not really in the cosmetic buying mood;just want to examine what’s new in the drug store cosmetic lines.
However that day there is an attractive,yet pushy older sales woman behind the makeup checkout who had me in her sites…..I think she must have worked the department store scene before this job,because she had more moves than an eight legged octopus. Before I knew it,she had a coupon in my hand,and a couple new products Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation,and Revlon Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator rang up and bagged before I knew what hit me.
Her sales pitch was slick;she promised department store results at drug store prices. She assured me that the Revlon’s Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator was going to illuminate and brighten my skin as well as Benefits Pink High Beam which I adore. She also recommended the Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation in a light-medium for my facial. The Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation comes in 8 shades,and the Revlon Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator comes in I think 3 or 4 including 040 Bronze lights,and 030 Gold Light which I went back and purchased later.
The cost for Benefit’s High Beam $25.00 the cost of Revlon Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator 8.99 coupon $13.99 without,and the Revlon age defying spa foundation $13.99 same as the face illuminator.
My Thoughts On Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation Makeup
With skin cancer on the rise,it’s good to see cosmetic manufactures putting SPF in their foundation formulations,and Revlon’s Age Defying Spa Foundation does offer some protection with an SPF of 18. I would still recommend applying a light weight spray sunscreen over the top of this for better skin protection from damaging UV rays.
Revlon claims that its Age Defying Spa Foundation will instantly revitalize and brighten your complexion with radiant,flawless coverage that protects against fine lines. Their foundation formulation contains not only an SPF,but Anti-oxidants and stone therapy minerals that help to energize your stressed skin as it brightens with an infusion of Vitamin C.
Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation
The foundation comes in a tube with a twist base brush applicator that you will either love or hate. You need to squeeze the tube for the product to be dispended at the end of the brush,and then it does have an interesting twist back feature on the base to lock the foundation and prevent it from leaking out in your make up drawer or cosmetic bag. It is easily marked with an arrow,so you will know if the product is open or closed;simply twist the base once,squeeze the tube,and the product comes out,and then twists it back to lock it.
I disliked the brush applicator so much that I took a pair of pliers and yanked out the brush bristles leaving only a tiny dispenser which is perfect for applying to my make up sponge. I have read other reviews and they love the brush application,but to really get the best coverage,and not leave the foundation sitting on the top of my skin,I like to blend well with a makeup sponge. I also found that it is hard to use the brush in the eye areas effectively and usually ended up dotting my small foundation brush with the foundation for that area anyway.
The foundation in light-medium was a close color match to my own complexion,as the foundation color has some slight yellow undertones that neutralize any redness in my skin. The product has light to medium build-able coverage with a very smooth lightweight texture that does not feel heavy,lasted a good 6-8 hours on my skin,and covered freckles,and some uneven skin tone near my jaw line flawlessly. I have combination skin and it did not leave my skin overly shiny,or cause any breakouts. The fragrance is light and pleasant,and I found that it had s slightly satiny and dewy finish without being overly shimmery.
One negative is that I did notice that it stated to settle into the fine lines around my eyes a bit half way through the day,but I started applying the Revlon Age Defying Spa Face Illuminator in light pink to that area,and it seemed to solve that problem.
I went on a cruise,and got many compliments on my smooth radiant skin,and a couple of my female dinner companions in their late 40’s early 50’s wanted to know what my skin secrets were. So if you are sitting on the fence……All in all I think this foundation is a winner,but with any drug store foundation you are limited in your color choices,and you don’t get to try before you buy.
